If you would’ve told high school me last year that I’d be working at a local coffee shop and be trying to raise funds for a 9-month mission trip, I am sure he’d look at you puzzled. I was supposed to be playing collegiate baseball and living in Illinois. But the plans changed, and I am more excited about this journey than anything I thought I had in store a year ago.
Plans change.
God doesn’t.
I am seeing, with recent trials, that we aren’t supposed to try and control things in our lives. That was never the design. Letting up control is such a hard thing to do, and I never have been good at it. Trusting in God to guide me each day is a lot easier and a lot less stress on my shoulders.
Days change.
God doesn’t.
Each day comes with its own tasks and it can seem overwhelming sometimes, but the key is to focus on today.
“The key is this: Meet today’s problems with today’s strength. Don’t start tackling tomorrow’s problems until tomorrow. You do not have tomorrow’s strength yet. You simply have enough for today.” -Max Lucado
One of the best things I have been focusing on recently has been the beautiful fact that God is never changing. While we are changing and becoming who we are, He is still constant. In a world full of things coming and going with the seasons, its a peace knowing that the one who is in control is the same always.
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Hebrews 13:8
What a feeling of peace it is to know that no matter what we are going through or what lies ahead, God will still be who He is; a loving, caring, powerful, and merciful God. He is who He said He is, and He will do what He said He will do! Wow that just flat out gets me excited to do each day with Him. His promises remain true! That is great news.
Drew,
I am so proud of the young man you have become and the path you have chosen for yourself. Good luck with your fundraiser. I have no doubt you will get there!
Love this Drew! Love you!! Mom
