In Luke 10, Jesus starts off by sending out the seventy-two. He looks to the crowd that was standing before Him and said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

So these seventy-two went out and saw miracles happen. Then when they returned they said, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!” And he said to them, I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.

Because of the Holy Spirit alive and working inside us, we have the power to Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons…(Mat. 10:8) I just love what Jesus said to the seventy-two when they returned after doing those things. He encourages them not to focus on that fact that the spirits are subject to them, but rejoice that their names are written in Heaven…think about that today!

As you go about your day, allow this truth to propel you to love. When you begin your morning with the fact of your salvation, it leaves a sweet aroma around you as you go about your day. I encourage you today to be reminded of what Jesus has done. Be reminded of who you are, and the authority you walk in, and the beautiful fact that you get to spend eternity with the one who created you.

Think about heaven today, and go share with people who don’t yet know that they are worthy of a place before the Father.

But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things? For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God’s word, but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ. (2 Corinthians 2:14-17)

  1. Wow ! An explanation of the courage it takes to evangelize AND hope for people during this pandemic. God will continue to protect you.

  2. Yeah for sure- We know that we are going to Heaven and that propels us to live in manner that seeks those who don’t know Jesus…yet! I would also say the boldness comes as we understand the spiritual authority we can walk in as sons and daughters!

  3. Jesus paid it all
    All to Him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow
